Colorado Rep. Ken Buck has amassed 50 Republican representatives to request Attorney General William Barr open an investigation into the succession of seemingly structured riots from the last few months led by militant far-left extremists who seem determined to spread mayhem in cities across the nation.
“ANTIFA and other left-wing anarchists [sic] groups have unleashed a barrage of totalitarian attacks on our country in recent months, including accosting a sitting U.S. Senator, hijacking peaceful rallies, organizing armed riots, destroying property, burning buildings, stealing livelihoods, and spreading hate,” House Republicans penned in a letter to the U.S. Attorney General.
The letter insists the outburst of disturbances is mainly the product of organized subversive domestic terrorist organizations with an objective of creating pandemonium and division.
“It is clear that these individuals are well-funded and supported by a national network of left-wing activists committed to perpetrating violence and furthering anarchy in our streets,” the members of Congress wrote. “As such, we urge you to immediately open an investigation to identify and prosecute all individuals and groups responsible for funding and organizing these terroristic acts that are wreaking havoc on our nation.”
The demands result from aggressors in Portland moving past the mark of 100 consecutive days of rioting, arson, assaults, and property damage amid a chaotic summer of disorder set off in late May by the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody.
Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf revealed to Tucker Carlson on Fox News last week that the DOJ had already launched an investigation into the organizers of the political violence outbreaks.
“It’s something I’ve talked to the AG personally about, and I know that they are working on it,” Wolf responded when asked by Carlson about the likelihood of an investigation into the rioters. “Look, we’ve seen about 300 arrests across this country regarding civil unrest and protesting — violent protesting, I would say criminal protesting, criminal rioting. We have got about 300 arrests. About a third of those or a hundred of those arrests have been in Portland specifically.”
Wolf continued: “I know the Department of Justice has charged about 74 or 75 individuals there in Portland with different federal crimes, and we’ll continue to see how those investigations are going. The Department of Justice is also targeting and investigating the head of these organizations, the individuals that are paying for these individuals to move across the country.”
As the walls close in on some of these groups, the GOP appears to be losing patience.
“ANTIFA and other far-left anarchist groups have wreaked havoc on our nation for far too long,” Rep. Buck cautioned on his website. “Americans deserve to feel safe and secure in their own communities, it’s time that AG Barr and the DOJ take action to investigate and prosecute the groups responsible for these violent riots. I am proud to lead this effort with my colleagues to put a stop to these coordinated attacks that have subverted our system of government and way of life.”
Study found nearly 570 violent demonstrations–riots–in nearly 220 locations spread all across the country. Is that ‘overwhelmingly peaceful’? https://t.co/veX34DYpnz pic.twitter.com/lecXulUfg2

After most of the violent riots died down in many cities, Portland kept the flames going. Further riots reignited in key areas during the last days of summer after a police shooting in Kenosha, Wisc. The rioters burned parts of Kenosha and other major cities the same week the GOP held its convention online.
The letter to the DOJ concludes by stating:
“The violence occurring in our cities cannot continue. The DOJ must take action to stop these dangerous attacks. As such we urge you to fully investigate these groups responsible for these attacks on our republic and prosecute all individuals who are violating federal law by participating in, inciting, organizing, or funding these destructive riots. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this urgent request and your prompt action to protect our nation.”
