Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire reported on Saturday that Jacob Blake—the man shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin—had a warrant out for his arrest leading up to the shooting incident, but that many people will not go into any detail as to what it was Blake had done. Walsh continued by suggesting that the crime Blake was charged with could speak to his “state of mind, his character, and his propensity for violence, and it explains why the cops were called in the first place.”
According to the criminal complaint, Blake’s ex-girlfriend stated that he entered her house uninvited on Sunday morning, May 3, 2020. She continued by saying that she woke up to find Blake standing over her in her room.
“LNB stated at about 6AM she was woken up by the father of her children, Jacob Blake, herein known as the defendant, standing over her saying, ‘I want my shit.’ As LNB lay there, on her back, the defendant, suddenly and without warning, reached his hand between her legs, penetrated her vaginally with a finger, pull it out and sniffed it, and said, ‘Smells like you’ve been with other men.’”
The complaint continued by suggesting that Blake, after allegedly committing this violent and degrading act against the victim, immediately left the room with the ex-girlfriend’s keys and debit card, and drove away in her vehicle. She added that Blake had made two withdrawals with the stolen card. The complaint proceeds to give details and background insight into the relationship between the victim and Blake:
“LNB stated she and the defendant have three children together but have never resided together in the eight years they have been on and off. LNB stated the defendant is unemployed, has no vehicle, and would not tell LNB where he was currently living. LNB stated over the past eight years the defendant has physically assaulted her around twice a year when he drinks heavily.”
As a result of this complaint, Blake was charged on July 6 with felony third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct connected to domestic abuse.
The Daily Wire added that if these accusations turn out to be true, it is clear that Blake was a serial abuser and a violent man who attempted to control women through violence and fear. Walsh asked: “Does the fact that he is possibly a dirtbag mean that police could randomly pull up and shoot him in the back? No, of course not. Which is why it is good that they did not randomly pull up and shoot him in the back.”
The police showed up because this same ex-girlfriend had called 911 in response to Blake reportedly taking her keys. It appears clear why he was not supposed to be there, and why the ex-girlfriend said she was afraid of him and what he may have been planning to do with the keys, Walsh said. What’s more, Blake fought with the police when they attempted to bring him into custody. It was also reported that Blake appeared to grab a knife or potentially reach for one once he got to the vehicle.
Walsh concluded that it is possible that more details could reveal that the police officer who shot Blake did so unlawfully, but that everything which is currently available points to the possibility that Blake was clearly in the wrong. This raises questions as to why professional sports leagues like the NBA and NFL have firmly come out in support of a man who allegedly assaulted a woman and was charged with domestic abuse. These organizations have a long and “sordid history of supporting, and covering for, abusive men. And it appears they may be doing it again.”
