A politician from Russia has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for fatally beating her 12-year-old son with a dumbbell after an argument, according to reports.
Local officials described how 56-year-old Galina Morozova battered her son, Alexander Parakhnyakov, in March because he had disobeyed her to sneak out of the house to attend a sleepover. When he returned home, she stabbed him in the ear with the sharpened end of a plastic hairbrush as he slept, then smashed a heavy metal dumbbell into his head several times until he was dead, reports The Sun.
She then told authorities that her son was missing, while acting like a distraught mother as she publicly begged people on her social media account and people assisting in the searches of the city of Astrakhan, the report went on to explain.
Morozova said on her social media account: “My situation made me wonder what I can do to prevent other children from repeating the mistakes of my youngest son.
“How can I protect other families from the same grief as mine?”
According to reports, she went so far as to claim she she him on CCTV footage in Astrakhan city.
Her son’s deceased body eventually was discovered three months later, entombed in the concrete of the foundation of his older brother’s house where authorities are now saying Morozova hid him.
It was her elder son, Denis Parakhnyakov, 36, who turned his own mother over to the police in June, the report cited.
During a police interrogation, Morozova was described by detectives to be “calm and cold-blooded” as she confessed and explained the murder before noting that she acted alone. However, she was said to shed tears as a court read off a list of her son’s injuries.
A statement from the Investigative Committee detailed: “The boy left home on March 4 and returned the next day in the morning.
“He was confronted by his mother and they started arguing. During the quarrel, the woman grabbed a dumbbell and hit the boy on the head several times.
“He died from his injuries on the spot.
“The mother hid his body in the basement and poured it with cement.
“Then she put the boy’s smartphone and the dumbbell into a plastic bag and threw it into the river.”
Morozova’s own daughter, 20-year-old Natalya Parakhnyakova, wrote: “I always thought that I had the best family and the most wonderful mother.
“And the most ideal life, until this fateful day.”
Morozova is said to have told investigators that she had been angry that the boy had defied her after she banned him from sleepovers and that ignited the savage assault. She then led the police to where she had hidden her son’s smartphone as well as the murder weapon.
“Morozova confessed to her hostile attitude towards her son,” explained Yulia Svitina, a spokeswoman for the local prosecutor’s office.
He added, “She stated that his behaviour was completely uncontrollable, and he did not succumb to education.”
The Russian Investigative Committee says that the young man “died on the spot.”
Morozova is a popular local politician in the area who failed in a bid last year to be elected governor of her region. She was expelled from the Fair Russia party last year “for having excessive ambitions,” according to the Russian media.
Neighbors characterized Galina Morozova “as a perfect mother” and a “successful business woman.” Morozova is said to be skilled in banking, as well as audits, and held a seat on different state committees of the region.
People describe her son as a skilled Taekwondo student and junior pianist.
