A familiar trend that was once considered satirical has now become a reality, as videos continue to pop up online of white folks bowing to black folks, and people calling it “racist” to not do so.
The videos mirror a trend started in 2015 by Gavin McInnes, who kicked off the campaign when he tweeted, “White people are a symbol of oppression and hatred. We need to take ourselves down by lying on the ground and crying.”
The tweet led to hundreds of posts of people laying down on the ground in order to repent for their ancestor’s evil deeds. The gag went so far that CNN had to do an explainer article on the matter.
